The Left is Going Nuts at the Thought of Kid Rock for Senate

I’ve never really listened to Kid Rock’s music. I know who he is. And I know he’s outspoken. Wikipedia’s bio says this:

“Robert James Ritchie (born January 17, 1971), known professionally as Kid Rock, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, musician, record producer, and actor. His 1998 album Devil Without a Cause sold 14 million copies worldwide. He is a five-time Grammy Award nominee and has sold 25 million albums in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan. The RIAA certified him selling 23.5 million albums. He has sold over 35 million records worldwide.”

Other than his support for Donald Trump in the 2016 election, I’ve known nothing about his political leanings– until a video surfaced from one of his events Wednesday night. And boy has it gone viral on Facebook. As of this writing it has well over 1.1 million views.

Apparently Kid Rock has somewhat of a political history. In addition to meeting multiple Presidents; he has been affiliated with the Republican Party, performed at the 2012 National Convention, and even endorsed Ben Carson in his run for President prior to throwing his support behind Donald Trump.

But the most intriguing aspect in regards to the political side of Kid Rock is the fact that he currently has many leftists up in a tizzy over the idea of him running for United States Senate in Michigan. We can certainly expect his comments at Wednesday night’s event to stir them up even more than they already were.

The embattled singer-songwriter pulled no punches. He criticized things like government healthcare, redistribution of wealth, “deadbeats milking the system”, taking a knee during the National Anthem, deadbeat dads, and white supremacists. And in what would be an odd twist to some, he even broke out into a prayer of sorts to Jesus asking that we be reminded that we are all still just “one nation under God”.

You see, earlier this year rumors began circulating that Kid Rock would be running for the Michigan Senate seat. Encouraged by the response to the idea, the musician even started a web site kidrockforsenate.com. Though he hasn’t officially announced as a candidate and says he is in the exploratory phase, he sells “Kid Rock for Senate 2018” merchandise on his web site. This is just one thing that has some leftists all bent out of shape.

A left-leaning “nonpartisan group” called “Common Cause” filed a Federal Elections Commission (FEC) complaint against him last week. Their claim being that his selling the merchandise makes him a “candidate under the law” and that he should therefore be subject to filing requirements.

Kid Rock’s criticism of former NFL Quarterback Colin Kaepernick for refusing to stand during the National Anthem has led to calls for the artist’s shows in Detroit to be cancelled.

Because of the flowery language that the musician laces through nearly everything he says, I won’t quote his responses to the situations I cited above. Suffice it to say that he essentially tells his critics to go fly a kite.

While he considers whether to make his run for Senate official, and with over a year to the 2018 General Election, Kid Rock is forming a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization to advocate for voter registration. And his message to the Democrats is extremely straight forward:

“If I decide to throw my hat in the ring for US Senate, believe me… it’s game on…”

If he actually decides to run, does Kid Rock have a chance at winning? I asked that question of someone I respect in political circles who is far more in touch with a potential Kid Rock candidacy than I am. In fact, this person has ran for office themselves on one occasion. Their answer to me was, “He would win in a landslide.” Only time will tell whether Kid Rock officially becomes a United States Senate candidate. And should he choose to be, only an election will determine the outcome. But in the meantime, I have to admit that it’s kind of fun to see many on the liberal left up in arms at the possibility.

While I don’t like the musician’s flowery language, I do enjoy seeing Democrats with the proverbial bloodied nose once in a while. And last night Kid Rock was throwing haymakers. He may very well be right when he says Democrats are [messin’] in their pantaloons right now”.

Senator Kid Rock? Wow.
