About T. Arthur Mason
T. Arthur Mason is a native North Dakotan who has spent nearly all of his life in the Peace Garden State. As the third of four children in Western North Dakota, Mason grew to appreciate family and the outdoors. Some of his fondest memories are annual deer hunts with family and friends. In his early teenage years, faith became a central part of T. Arthur Mason's life. He and the majority of his family attend church together on a weekly basis and find this a fulfilling aspect of their lives. Through the influence of his father, T. Arthur Mason became intrigued with politics. As a boy, he attended political events with his father and enjoyed the friendships that resulted as a byproduct of those political associations. As Mason grew older, he became convinced that the quote often attributed to Thomas Jefferson was true, "That government is best which governs least." Today, T. Arthur Mason enjoys time with his wife and children, an occasional hunt, and an increasingly active life on the political scene. This blog is the fulfillment of a dream to design a web site in the realm of politics and to advocate for the principles of Liberty and constitutionally limited government. On behalf of all those that contribute to The Minuteman, we hope you enjoy your time on the site and will share the message with others.

May 10, 2024 T. Arthur Mason

I sincerely hope that the voters of North Dakota (ND) are becoming savvy to the deceptive work of some political PACs operating in our state. The shiny, expensive flyers attacking Rick Becker are an example of the disgusting and misleading [read more…]

Let’s Just Admit Party Endorsements Don’t Matter

May 9, 2024 T. Arthur Mason

There’s no point in keeping up the charade anymore. While it’s true that political parties in North Dakota — primarily Republicans and Democrats — hold endorsing conventions at both the state and local levels, they’re not as consequential as they [read more…]

Baesler Used the NDGOP– And Admits It

April 27, 2024 T. Arthur Mason

The office of Superintendent of Public Instruction is a non-partisan office. Because of this, Kirsten Baesler has always sought the North Dakota Republican Party’s Letter of Support — the alternative to a party endorsement — as a means of garnering [read more…]

April 16, 2024 T. Arthur Mason

Something took place at the recent NDGOP State Convention that may well be historic. Doug Burgum, John Hoeven, Kevin Cramer, and Kelly Armstrong all fell short on votes to become delegates to the Republican National Convention. When was the last [read more…]

U.S. House Candidate Julie Fedorchak Had a Tough Week

April 15, 2024 T. Arthur Mason

In some people’s minds, Public Service Commissioner Julie Fedorchak was the frontrunner for North Dakota’s lone U.S. House seat. But in the course of just seven days, she proved that just isn’t so. In February, Fedorchak announced that she would [read more…]

Conventions Should Determine Nominees, Not Primaries

April 9, 2024 T. Arthur Mason

This last weekend, the party faithful for both the Republicans and Democrats in North Dakota gathered in Fargo — at separate locations of course — for their biennial state conventions. Events like these should be more consequential, but state law [read more…]

Will Big Money Prove Effective in Buying ND’s Primary Election?

June 14, 2022 T. Arthur Mason

Many North Dakotans have already early voted. Yet, Tuesday is our state’s Primary Election. When it comes to legislative and state-wide races, it’s actually a nomination process, not an election. Technically the election happens in November. Semantics I suppose. Unless [read more…]

“Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.”
